How to Apply
Each spring semester, the Department of Music conducts scholarship auditions for applicants who desire to major in music at UNC-Chapel Hill. All students who audition as part of this process are automatically considered for the Kenan Music Scholarship. (Note that this audition process is separate from admission to the University itself, which is pursued through and determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.) To be considered for the Kenan Music Scholars Program, applicants should:
- ensure that his/her application is submitted to the University by the posted deadline (see Undergraduate Admissions for details)
- submit a scholarship audition request to the Department of Music
- complete an audition at one of the on-campus scholarship audition dates or submit a recorded audition
After hearing all scholarship auditions, the Department of Music’s Scholarship Committee selects semifinalists for the Kenan Music Scholars Program. Those semifinalists are invited back to campus as guests of the Program for a final round of auditions. Kenan Music Scholar finalists are announced shortly after the March audition date.
